Early Studies

Ministries Emphases

EARLY STUDIES BY BC3

-         Feasibility of expanding current Worship Center -- structurally possible, but not advisable

o     No overall cost savings -- cost of additional classrooms and expanding the Commons would offset reduced cost of expanding worship center

o     Aesthetics -- both interior and exterior -- likely would be compromised

o     “Character” or “style” of our worship services would be affected by a lengthened center aisle

o     Worship services would be disrupted during expansion

-         Lessons from survey of 9 other churches

o     Address “character” or “style” of facilities, not just size & function

o     Obtain inputs from parishioners who lead various church programs

o     Don’t underestimate need for infrastructure, offices, storage, etc

o     Numerous recommendations for architects & builders

MINISTRIES EMPHASES

-         Key Ministries – worship in “traditional” (for St Chad’s) setting; Christian Education for youth and adults; fellowship to visitors and ourselves

-        Widely Desirable Ministries – parish teens; open our church to community groups and activities; special accommodation for reflection and prayer; accommodations for interment of remains of deceased; sponsor programs for people with special needs

-        No Shared Vision – variety of non-traditional worship settings; sponsor concerts & performances; in-house outreach programs; sponsor programs for neighborhood; expand Family Cooperative Pre-School

-        Avoid – establish and operate an accredited primary school
