What's Next?

WORSHIP

  • new sanctuary seating 275, plus 25-30 in choir
  • short aisle (modified “in-the-round”, like current worship center)
  • larger altar area
  • integral Baptismal font
  • space for organ and piano, with good acoustics throughout
  • full-scope sacristy, plus area near altar for celebrants to robe
  • spacious, sound-deadening lobby or entry
  • chapel to seat 30-50
  • courtyard for reflection, meditation, and interment
  • visible from both Tramway & Tennyson avenues and distinctive as a church (bell tower?)

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

10 classrooms (6 current, 4 new; perhaps remodeling Commons?)

  • 1 nursery (current is too small)
  • 1 pre-school (current is too small)
  • 4 elementary school (probably not practical to share 2 with Family Cooperative Pre-School)
  • 1 middle school (current OK)
  • 1 high school (larger to allow “hanging out”)
  • 1 choir/adult education (remodeled Commons with higher ceilings?)
  • 1 library/conference room/Vestry/adult education

Play yard (visible from fellowship hall)

FELLOWSHIP

  • fellowship hall double the size of current Commons (current worship center would work well, as envisioned in 1982 Master Plan)
  • kitchen & pantry (current kitchen would work well, as envisioned in 1982 Master Plan)
  • covered outdoor courtyard

OFFICES

  • 4 (2 existing)(rector, assistant, deacon, Christian Education Director?)
  • 1 reception area – secretary plus desk area for treasurer, etc.
  • 1 administrative work room

OTHER

  • Bathrooms to be sufficient (include showers for youth overnighters)
  • Storage sufficient for all functional areas
  • Parking as needed (approximately twice the current 94 spaces)
  • Character consistent with current worship, interior, & architectural styles
  • Consider possible views
