Outreach Activities St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi St. Chad's participates with Casas por Cristos to build houses in Juarez, Mexico for families in need. Meeting the continuing needs of the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina, the Outreach Committee has approved a Parish Partnership with St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The Committee has committed $6000 again in 2007 to help the clergy and parishioners of St. John’s and their community. Visit St. John’s website at www.stjohnsoceansprings.org. St. Chad's is collecting toiletries for the homeless and Morning Star House. When you travel, please bring back unopened hotel toiletries and place them in the box in the foyer. These will be put into baggies for distribution to the homeless and to the abused women at Morning Star House. In addition, unopened cosmetic samples will provide a welcome lift to the spirits of the women at Morning Star House. St. Chad's has special relationships with two
local charities here in Albuquerque. The
Storehouse provides free food and clothing to people struggling with poverty. Our parish collects dry pinto beans for
the Storehouse at every service.
Again in 2006, we donated over two tons of beans, 4121 pounds!
So far in 2007, we have donated 2310 pounds.
If you
prefer, you can make a donation directly to the church and specify that it be
used to buy beans. Contact the Treasurer if you have any questions. On the third Monday of every other month, St. Chad's provides one dinner at Project Share, a non profit organization that focuses on feeding the Hungry and Homeless in Albuquerque, in an environment which fosters the opportunity for growth, education, and change. Look for the signup sheet in the foyer or call the church office for information. In the Spring and the Fall we conduct an Ingathering for the United Thank Offering (UTO). Coin boxes are available in the foyer; put one on your table, drop your spare change in, and see how it all adds up. In 2006, we collected over $1000!
